I play both, and I still mixed them up on the first session. Classic sudoku gives me a 9×9 grid, the digits 1 through 9, and the rule that each digit appears once per row, column, and 3×3 box. Meowdoku, in the Oakever text I checked on 30 September 2026, asks for exactly one cat in each colored region. Cats also cannot share a row or column, and they cannot touch, even diagonally. Board size changes. Level 1 in the notes I transcribed is 4×4. Level 57 is 9×9. Level 53 is 10×10.
Oakever’s own sentence says the game blends Sudoku reasoning with Minesweeper deduction. That is the fairest short version. The Minesweeper part is the neighbor ban: a legal line can still fail because two cats touch on a corner.
Grove 42’s Meowdoku: Cat Sudoku is closer to digit sudoku. It swaps numbers for cat stickers. If that is the icon on your phone, these region answers will not fit. See versions.

Is Meowdoku like sudoku?
It borrows the one-per-line idea. It does not use digits, boxes of nine, or a fixed 9×9. Oakever also adds a no-touch rule, which classic sudoku does not have.
